She should be ok, she is just limping around pretty good. Hopefully it should be gone in about 10-14 days. It is an imflimation on the bone and something else right above her knee. I thought it could be a torn ACL but her knee is tight and everything else seems to be good. When he puts his 2 fingers together and slightly "pinches" right above her knee on her femur bone she shows alot of discomfort It isnt a bad thing but she definatley can not hunt for a few weeks and maybe done for the rest of the year. I guess I could compare it to Gout in humans, you just let it run its course and it comes and goes. The other thing which it could be is a bone tumor, which the Vet says is not likely due to lymph nodes being ok and other symptoms that she does not have. She shows all the signs of Panosteitis. So we treat her with some meds. and see where it goes from here. We give it about 2 weeks and if no improvement we take her for X-rays and they have to put her under anesthesia so they can manipulate her leg

Well the verdict is in. My English Setter Kacie has a torn ACL and will require surgey to repair/replace in 2 weeks. 8-12 weeks of recovery and then 4-6 months of re-hab. She should be ready to go next fall, but we will have to wait and see

So do I Dutch, it really stinks having to do this but my dogs health and well being is most important to us. It cost alot of money to do this but what we get in return is priceless so it is money well spent.
