Over the weekend we had a house full of visitors who wanted to go fishing but could not find worms in the garden or any of the normal places since we have not had significant rain here in weeks. I managed to find a handful of worms by digging in the creek bank....the only place with any moisture. Yesterday my wife and I were porch sitting watching a robin dashing in and out of it's nest tree near our porch and I thought it must be feeding bugs to it's young. But upon closer study we realized it was finding worms in our front yard that is dry as a bone. Don't know how that happens, but the bird was a consistently successful hunter and in each trip, (about 8 or 9 minutes apart) the old girl or guy had two to three large worms for the kids!!!

I guess worm hunting is a skill you have not quite mastered.

I guess worm hunting is a skill you have not quite mastered. True. We hit all the old reliable places, in the garden compost, the drainage along the lane, in the shaded and cooler areas of the woods....nuttin! Dang robin goes where the grass is turned yellow and the shale is showing and repeatedly filled it's jaws with worms......that's talent!
