I went for a walk this mornin. Only heard a few gobbles, but I saw 7 gobblers (2 groups-3 and 4) crossing a field.

We got a group patterned. If they hold to it, we should be shooting by 7 or 730 comes this Sat (Youth Opener). Taking the 2 oldest kids (junior hunters) and hoping to double up. Daughter will hopefully shoot one with the crossbow first and then my son will use the shotgun. That being said we will more than likely not see a bird and not hear crap. LOL.

We have two groups of Jakes located that don't appear to have hens with them and a few more biguns that I'm pretty sure have hens.Nothing is ever a sure bet but I feel pretty good about our chances with either group of jakes just because of the lack of hens and the set-up.The kid doesn't want to shoot a Jake though lol.I tried convincing him that each group has an alpha jake like the strutter in the top picture but he ain't buying it.

I think I know that spot???
My son has killed two super jakes like that one pictured in the past. Strutting and gobbling all the way. His trigger finger gets awful itchy. I got him a second tag for the first time this year. I am hoping he put one of those tags on a full fan this year.

I have been ready for about a month now watching everyone around us hunting. Ridge, I feel your pain. I have the same problem with AR for Lifetime hunters. Tell ya what, I will jump on the "Earlier Spring Season" bandwagon, if you jump on the "No AR for senior hunters" bandwagon.

Sure, if you would support a "Senior Hunter Day" for spring turkey before Youth Hunter Day. You added one so I had to, to keep it even.
