Yesterday on a windswept ridge in Clearfield County Emma pointed this chocolate phase grouse. I dropped it with one shot from The Twigg, my 16 gauge Belgium no name hammer gun. It's been longer than I like to admit since I've taken a grouse over a lovely point and for it to be such a beautiful bird made it all the sweeter.

Grouse are days gone by for us. Just disappeared in our neck of the woods. However my boy did flush one during deer season while he was doing a push. First we've seen in years. Would be great to see them make a comeback! Oh..and love that vintage shotgun!

I flushed 4 out of a drive this year, haven't seen that ever where I hunt. I saw 3 my dad saw 4. Dutch is right about the cover it has gotten a lot thicker in my area and the grouse seem to be getting helped out by it.
