This isn't about ridge hunter! Lol. I'm in the market for a new crossbow and have a few in mind. First, Excaliber matrix 330-- is what I'm learning toward bit was looking at the wicked ridge invader G3. Any members have any experience with this crossbow??

I have experience with both. Remember the 330 has a draw weight of 220 pounds which can be a problem for some using a rope cocker.

What, you callin Tom a wimp? Nah. Just stating the reality of the situation. Good thing is the power stroke is rather short which helps.

What, you callin Tom a wimp? I think he was. Lol. I thought about the draw weight , I also looked at the crank that help with loading. I still got plenty of time, just looking for opinions !

I would go with Excaliber. Had mine 5 yrs. no problems. Straight limbs with no pulleys and cables have less problems.

So now you are saying he is a wimp with a short power stroke? stirthepot Tom, Either bow would do fine for you. If you get a chance I would stop by some local shops and see if you can at least handle if not shoot both. If you ever venture out of Fayette County into upper Washington County let me know and you could shoot the Excaliburs that I have.

You are going to be in it more dough with the Matrix but as long as the cocking is not an issue with you, they are pretty sweet bows. Excalibur does make a cocking device as well to help. The Matrix will feel lighter up front than the WR and maintenance is a breeze. It will be somewhat slower and much louder than the WR. The WR is a solid package for the money. Plenty fast. Reliable. Relatively quiet. Their self contained rope cocker is awesome as well. No more tangled cocking ropes or misplaced ones.

Are Recurve crossbows are louder than compound crossbows?? I know you can add string stops and stuff to help with the noise. I'll take a look at both and decide. I heard a lot of good things about both. Thanks guys,

Are Recurve crossbows are louder than compound crossbows?? Generally, yes. Lots of violent stuff going on when the heavy limbs of recurves are released.

Missions are very nice. I have a MXB400 but I would suggest the Dagger or MXB320.

I was looking at the MXB320-- My old PSE weighs in at 10lbs-- Its been good to me and still shoot good but it's getting heavy to lug around and speed is slow compared to what's out there now.

I'm far from a crossbow expert but looked at and shot piles of them two years ago for my son.I shot the mission 320 and wasn't nuts about it but it was in my top 5.Personally I liked the feel of the excaliber matrix crossbows the best when shouldered. What I didn't like was the trigger and I couldn't get past the loud crack.I ended up buying him a bowtech striker 380.It had the nicest trigger by far,was light, quiet for a crossbow and felt good to shoulder.I was concerned about limb reliability but we've had no issues. We shot it a bunch over the past two years and I finally re-served the string just before hunting season. You can pick up a stryker 350 for about the same price as the other two you're looking at.I believe the original issues with the strykers have been fixed.Prior to buying one,all I heard was how loud, cumbersome and how much of a pain they are to hunt with.I haven't experienced any of that with the Bowtech. It's no worse than carrying a rifle over your shoulder and it's light enough and narrow enough that it hasn't been a pain to carry or hunt with.

Got it narrowed down to a wicked ridge invader or a mission MXB 320. Ex-cal was my first choice , heard a lot of good things but noise and price was a negative. Going to hang the old PSE crossbow up on the wall beside my old PSE compound.
