One of our local pubs has .25 cent oyster night. Super deal. I usually end up with about $2 worth as an appetizer.

I love them slirped right out of the shell!! My grandfather owned a seafood market & used to cater to local American Legions etc He could shuck up to 2 dozen a minute when ole Pap got rolling. In his later years his hands showed many battle scars to say the least!! How to shuck an oyster:

Have tried many, many to say the least oyster shucking knives over the years including the popular "New Haven" & "Boston styles" manufactured by Dexter etc and have concluded that the OXO Shucking Knife to be the best. Think my Granpap used sumpin close to the OXO but he ain't here to confirm. The OXO competitors aren't shabby but when shuckin an oyster you're always looking for that fine edge(no pun intended! )

OH how one year flies by!! Hurricane Matthew blew the 44th Annual Chincoteague Oyster Festival out last weekend which was rescheduled to this weekend. Storm merely brushed VA coast but they took good precautions. Daughter, SIL and new Grandson only 7mths old will join us few days over coming weekend. Will be Grandson's very first Oyster Festival with many more ahead of him!! Getting ready to pull out for this fun event which Mrs & I will extend for a week past. Besides shuckin hoping for some decent surf fishing plus back bay crabbing.

Had a great trip with magnificent weather!! Week before our trip Hurricane Matthews brushed our area with 8-10 inches of rain and some tidal flooding. My place is situated well above sea level so the bay even at high tide didn't impact me. I did have some road washout in front of my place but that was about it. First trip to Chincoteague for my 8mth old Grandson!! Won't be too long till he's introduced to the great fishing sports!! Never to early to start them slurping those sweet Chincoteague Oysters!!
