Hummers & Sunflowers, but not at the same time. Hummingbirds are staring to move south and fields of sunflowers are in full bloom. HDR image

Wow Todd! Just wow on the hummingbird!! Muab Yes, I can't say anymore than that!! But....(as always) A Hummingbird story from yesterday: My wife and I were invited to a friends for a low key cookout. They know I can't take the heat (and at 90 degrees...we had heat) but they have an ingrained pool!!! (Yeah!!!) So, I just go over with my swimming stuff on and directly into the pool. Wow!! What a way to cool down your core temp. Find a shady place.....grab a lite beer.....and a floaty tube....and that is living!!! But we were getting in the car in the garage, and right after I open the garage door (electric door of course) this green\yellow humming bird comes zooming right into the garage.....Stops in the middle.....assess that there is no food here....and zooms right back out. Man, are those little things pretty!!!!

I'd like to know what shutter speed is needed to get those pics?
And yes, "wow" is the best description.

Dave we have hummers in the garage all of the time, then I figured it out, the emergency opener handle on electric grage doors is bright red, the little guys think is a flower, I took ours off and replaced them with a wooden dowel and that solved the problem.
I love the sunflower pictures, we grew them one time and the number of birds they attracted was amazing. And boy do deer love them.

Ahhhhh!!! You are right on the money!!! That's exactly what he\her did!! I will take down the red handle and replace it with a wooden dowel. I'd hate to see one get hurt buzzing into my garage as fast as they come and go.

Wonderful photos Todd. My wife has been on a quest for her best humming bird photos and she has done really well but not up to the professional quality I look forward to when seeing you have posted pictures.
