OK you asked for it. Someone told a story and I think we need more of that here. As I said in a previous post I'm lazy. Not fat, over weight? yea. That said I've made it my life's goal to take the work out of having fun.
I waterfowl hunted the refuge system in California. Not great hunting but.... There is a lot of marsh and levees. The first time I went out I put on my waders, jacket, decoy bag and shouldered my shotgun. By the time I got a mile up the levee I was sweating and tired of carrying things. I swore never again. When I got home I bought a trashed double wide joggers stroller and stripped it. I replaced the seats with nylon mesh. The next time I went I loaded three bags of decoys, my waders jacket and shotgun on my cart and pushed it with one hand while my coffee road comfortably in the cup holder.
A while later I was returning from a morning hunt and saw an ol boy in the parking lot having a hard time putting on his waders. I helped him and we spoke for a while. My heart almost broke as I watched him trudge up the levee with those decoys on his back. The Lord said "Hey Ron, I got a job for ya." I replied yea I know. I began to buy every single jogger stroller I could find and turn them into decoy carts. Over five years I gave away over 20 of them. The Rangers knew who needed them and made sure the right folks got them. The ol boy I had met in the parking lot that day got one and became one of my hunting partners. The rangers have told so many stories and its been a real blessing in my life.
I later developed kid trailer into a decoy carrier. I made a removable third wheel. It folded flat and the wheels came off. It could be towed with a bike (set up for hunting)or be pushed with one hand. I have a Toyota Dolphin mini motor home with a bike rack. The cart and two pair of PVC flip blind covers fit on it. The hitch had a rack for my decoy sled and decoys. While the other guys slept in their cars and trucks I had a comfortable bed, coffee and breakfast in a warm motor home. I could have my cart loaded in three minutes and didn't have to put on my waders till I got to my blind.
There's a fine line between laziness and brilliance.
