Between the boy and I we had taken 15 pheasants this year. Mine were all taken with a 12 gauge so I was content and wanted to see if I could kill one with the Savage 22/410 O/U. The boy flushed a rooster past me at 15 yards yesterday and I brought it down. My quest took just one shot to be fulfilled!

Wow! 15 birds, thats a lot.
Over a dog or just hunting them up and flushing them?

That brings back memories!! Back in the late 50's we had lots of ringnecks in Washington county. My first gun (I still have it) was a Savage Model 24 .410/.22 over/under. I killed a bunch of ringnecks with that little shotgun back in those days.

Better late than never. I was looking at this thread and realized I never posted the pic I promised.

No birds to show, but here is my little Savage: I killed a bunch of rabbits and pheasants with it in the late 1950's and early 60's.
