I still laughing at the 1 or 2 doves is a meal, just like 1 or 2 beers is enough.

Their trying to make it seem like alot of doves wolnt be killed if a season were to be established in NY by claiming 1-2 is a meal. Dove hunting in NY is still illegal. Has been since the 1900's. Its a shame too i had just perfected my jalapeno, cream cheese dove breast wrapped in bacon when i left El Paso.

We par boil them until they fall off the bone then dip them in a beer batter fish breading and then deep fry them, and you will eat more than 2!

I usually hunt doves until I have at least a dozen breasts in the freezer. We prepare them as follows: make up a batch of stuffing mix and spoon the stuffing into the cavity between two dove breasts, then pin them together with toothpicks. Bake in oven. Wonderful meal.

We have done close to the same George, by using a deep casserole dish and layering both, stuffing and dove beasts, then slow baking, this makes a fantastic meal for a large group.
Just put an inch or so of stuffing in the bottom of the dish and then put a layer of dove breast bone down and far enough apart so as they can be surrounded by the next layer of stuffing, just keep adding layers as needed and bake.

I would say that we are indeed trying to impress the fact that:
1) A meal of doves does not require a pail full... And, it does not. I dont drink beer, but I am not a "lightweight" at 210, and bench 500, and one dove breast fuels me.
2) And, we are also trying to get the point across that we are not suggesting the NY harvest will be comparable to say Texas, Arizona, or California either.
1 and 2 are related, simple because those wishing to undermine our efforts argue there are too few doves and a pail full is needed for a meal - both which of are false...
Additionally, dove hunting has been characterized as game-hoggish, a social event, and a "tune up" for other game. These characterizations are not palatable to the public majority and/or policy makers. They are not accurate assessments of the activity without a better explanation, and even where applicable, will never apply to the 8 lower states that still do not allow dove hunting.
So far, dove hunting has not been attacked in PA. I am not sure if this got posted by mistake, but I believe we posted it "just in case" because, although the info is for NY, it is generic and adaptable to other states.

Just so the record gets set straight, I am not a lightweight either. I am 5'7 1/2" and weigh about 180, and I do quaff a foamer now and then (should I mention that it is on Dutch's dime?). On a really good day, I might be able to bench press 75 pounds. One dove breast is a nice little snack for me. It takes at least two of them, and preverably a few more, to make a decent meal. Ah haint on no dyat. Now, if my buddy Dave is involved, we would need a whole bunch more. Dave is a real plate cleaner.
