I had a guy the other year take my spot. He knew where I was going to be and knew I had good luck the previous year. He beat me to the spot and all. If he just picked the spot out and he beat me to it I would have been ok. The fact that we talked to each other about where we were going to be and then he was there ticked me off.

I'm not worried about somebody getting my deer.In fact,I'd gladly give someone a good spot that I planned on hunting and do it pretty much every year. It's not that,it's the principal.I can't stand ignorant people. No way would I have let that go Stroupy.Later that day,I would have had a developmental interview with that twit.

On SGL, it should be stands "in and out" each day. Reserving spots on SGL is a confrontation waiting to happen. JMO. FT

He even said he was going to be there this past year two years ago. I was going to beat him there I was determined to be. Then I shot my buck and never had to deal with it. Really ticked me off when he was in my spot and picked the dumbest spot he could. He was there this year and didn't see anything so hopefully he got disgusted because he does easy.

Stroupy, you know what my and others response is when someone asks if we saw anything while hunting? Nope, didn't see a thing, and no sign of anything.

My cousin shot a doe the other year and had blood on his hands. Guy stops and asks him if he saw anything he smokes as he smoking with his blood covered hands he replied nope didn't see a thing. LMAO

A few years back I saved a treasure lake dmap tag for the late season and killed a doe real early one afternoon on the Saturday after x-mas.I ran into a guy just down the road and we b.s.ed before he headed into his spot. The next week,a couple of my buddies came up to hunt so I took them to that spot.Low and behold,a climber was hooked to the same tree I shot the deer from. That pinhead followed my tracks and drag marks back to where I shot that deer lol.I called him up just to see if it was his stand and it was.He claimed he was gonna hunt there that afternoon but his truck never left his driveway.A couple years earlier the same guy helped me get a deer out after dark in a different spot.A week later he hung two stands in that exact same place.Every year he calls me weekly complaining that he isn't seeing any deer and I just tell him the same thing.I ain't seeing nothing. He's actually gone as far as to drive around looking for my truck.Because of that,I used to park in areas that appeared like I was hunting somewhere else.I used to have my wife drop me off as well.

I still say if you leave a stand on public land, it is fair for anyone to use. First come, first served. The reason I think this way is hunting stands and blinds take many forms. What if (the old what if scenario) what if you erect a blind from natural materials. Do you own it? I have built some pretty neat natural material ground blinds over the years. They were used by people other than me on both public and my land.. How about the big old rock that you put a pile of stones on to sit? My favorite memory of the rock blind occurred many years ago on public land. I was up on the mountain early. Headed right to a formation of rocks that were like a small room. The rocks were about chest high with a nice place down in them to sit and watch. Got settled in and here comes the flashlight. Guy gets within about 30 yards of me and I flash him. He goes ballistic.. cussing and carrying on about some ahole being on "his" stand. He finally continues on still grumbling. A few minutes later here comes another couple guys. Same story. Guy starts cussing about me being in "his" stand. Would not shut up. His buddy told him to come on but the guy refused. He sat down at a tree about 25 yards from the rock pile. Continued to mutter and cuss me for being in "his" stand. I had enough. I walked over to the guy and asked him if he had a problem he would like to discuss.. That changed his tune, but I was done with that area. I went and found another spot to hunt that morning. By the way, that was the last time I hunted a public hunting area. That winter I started searching for my own land. That's when I bought my first parcel in Bedford county.

People in a spot I picked out or hung a stand from is one of the main reasons I scout out multiple spots. I usually get in plenty early sometimes 2 hours before daylight so I beat most everyone in the woods but I have back up plans. The farm I hunt on in upstate ny requires you to sign an insurance waiver and on it it states if you have a Treestand other people can hunt from it. First come first serve. If an argument happens the farmer revokes the starting party's hunting privileges. Never had an issue with it. Then again I use a climber and chain both parts together around the base of the tree

I'm honestly disgusted by the mentality on this post, I have seen very few manors in the discussion. If someone takes the time to erect a ladder stand on the game lands it's rude to disrupt their hunt. I have to use a two man stand ( due to medical reasons) and I hunt about a mile back on the game lands and dragging my stand in and out is a huge task! I think if it's not harming the tree it should be a non issue. As for taking my stand, you might want to check out the available gps tracking devices available these days as some people are just not stable and taking their things could set them off. Hunting at one point was a gentlemen's sport, after dealing with others on gc property and reading forums like this on I'm seeing this sport be over taken by ignorance and childish mannerisms.

Don't let it get too you, chick. Most hunters are respectful of others. I don't care what profession or hobby you consider, there are some rotten apples who try to spoil it for everyone. Go forth and enjoy the hunt.

I can take you to many tree stands that are still up and not used for years now. They are litter. Too many guys think that if they put a ladder stand up that the area is now their spot. That's crap. Even state forests are now requiring you to remove your stand 2 weeks after the season. So if you can't remove it in a timely manner you what do you feel should be done with it?

My neighbor has several blinds built from natural materials....logs and poles from limbs, vines etc. He also went tot he SGL a couple miles down the road and built two similar ones several years ago. Much to his surprise a WCO checked him and told him to dismantled them because they were illegal. Turns out blinds are ok but have to be made from man-made material. Seems calling turkeys from a natural blind has resulted in some clown shooting in to the blind...........?

When I set my stand I'm in it twice a day every day I'm legal to hint, when I leave the woods on my last day at hunting camp my husband and I remove my stand and store it at our cabin. I get in the woods around 4:30 am and I sit until around 10:30- 12:00 I have gone for a walk to release myself and returned to some other hunters in my stand. This never turns out well! So if you're looking for a nasty confrontation go ahead and climb right up into my stand, but I don't hunt alone in any woods away from home there are usually around 15 guys hunting from our cabin which is a slight walk into the game lands away

Years ago when I lived in delco I had some spots that were golden and hard earned ......It was common practice to keep hunting clothes and other equipment in the owners garage .......I would have some one drop me off wearing street clothes and then change in the garage......all that stealth just so no one could poach your spot

Just asking. After you leave your tree stand and return to find another hunter standing on the ground a few feet away, do they get the same nasty confrontation?
