Ok....now...I know I'm cheap. Well.....I'm cheap on most things. Some call it frugal....but my buddies just call me cheap. And I'm all good with that. But can someone explain to me why a lowly little trout stream net cost $50 or more? Some of 'em go for more than $100. Just to net a trout??? I dunno.....I just don't get it. I'm thinking...Ok....$25? Maybe $30 if they are pretty?

Hey, thanks Muster. That's not exactly the one.....but now you have given me a place to look. Some of the shipping cost are a bit overboard on some of these....but I'll keep looking. Again....thanks!!

True Dougell. BTW....I found one at Cabela's for $16....brand new. I also had some Cabela's points....so even after shipping my cost was $12!!! My buddy told me it would not last long. I told him I'm very good with heavy cord and mending. smileys-whistling-823718 And hey.....I'm retired.....I don't keep track of my hours by client any more!!

I have made quite a few net frames. I saved fancy pieces of wood when I came across them for the handles and use different colored woods for the laminates. They usually come out looking great. The beauty comes from the wood, I just put it together. I have never sold any, even though many have asked. If I was to charge, I would not make one for less than 100 dollars.
I love things made from beautiful wood, from gun stocks and trout nets, to furniture and cabinets. Some guys love beautiful cars. I appreciate them, but I would never spend the high figures they cost when I am happy with my far less expensive transportation. Different strokes for different folks.

Redarrow, several years ago, when I was shooting T\C Contenders (Pre-G2's) a friend of mine had made a jig for cutting stocks for these frames. I happen to be at a speciality lumbar yard and came across a really nice piece of Blue Mahoe wood. This wood is grown on only a few south pacific islands (from my limited knowledge) and is not all that easy to get. So, I bought it wanting to make a thumbhole stock out of it. Well, long story short, I rough sketched the stock on the wood and my buddy was to cut it. So, he completely ignores my sketch and cut's the stock for a regular T\C stock. The wood has been sitting in my garage for about 5 years now. It's a very "hard" hardwood and has a beautiful blue tone to it. Almost appears to be a laminated at first glance. My intent is to now make some walking stick handles with it.

I should have had a net the last 2 days, but didn't plan on actually catching a trout. Caught 8, all came hand, without a net. Maybe not the best way, but I never did use a net. Hated the dang things and the tangle they cause.
