A few years back, Jeff Keller began to offer a donation of a grouse hunt at our local RGS banquet. After a couple years, he stopped and Kevin Weaver picked it up. My brother Dave, Grouse28, and I bought Kevin's hunt 2 years ago and had a great time hunting with Kevin and his brother.
Last year, my brother Dave decided to offer a grouse/woodcock hunt in Tioga/Potter from our camp. The hunt was offered at the Woodcock Limited annual banquet. It went for $650, which I thought was an amazing price.
The hunter and his son were from Ligonier and had a great time on the hunt and at camp with us.
The other day, Dave again offered the hunt at the banquet.
This time, the hunt went for $900!
When it was over, it was found that another bidder wanted a hunt. Dave quickly agreed to do a second hunt, mid week so our camp wasn't being used 2 weekends in a row during a hunting season.
The second bidder paid $700 for a mid week hunt!
So, 2 bidders and companions, one from Connecticut and one from New York, will spend some time in Grand Canyon country, and the money will go to habitat projects for woodcock.
Thank you Dave for your generosity and committment to habitat for timberdoodles.
