I have a habit of walking outside at night just before I head to bed to see what the weather and sky looks like. For the past couple of weeks, my foray outside has been greeted by an occasional flyover of snow geese, but last night was unbelievable. I stepped outside around 12:30 AM and heard geese off in the distance. Within a few minutes, I saw not hundreds, but thousands of geese heading north. Many of the (V's) were flying low...and I mean low. These birds weren't any higher than the steeple on the Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Chambersburg! The lights of Chambersburg reflected off of their white bodies. What made the sight spectacular was that you could look up through the many layers of geese and see geese flying very high. My wife got up and I called her to the front door to witness the spectacular sight. It went on for what seemed like ten minutes and as fast as they appeared, it was over; as they disappeared into the dark sky.

Acorn, I posted photos on the general forum under "spring is in the air" of thousands of snows and tundra swans. The migration is a spectacular thing!

They all mostly left Middle Creek last night or this morning.
Yesterday was incredible. Today, all gone.

Holy Mackeral Bow...I missed those posts of your pics. The sight I witnessed wasn't as chaotic as your pics. It just seemed very orderly. There were multiple layers of geese in (Vee's) of all sizes...everywhere at different heights.
My wife pondered this morning as she fixed her hair as to how far those geese had traveled since we saw them last night. I just thought that strange coming from a woman who doesn't share my fondness of the outdoors.

Yep, had a mass exodus from MC overnight. Was a circus of people there yesterday too. Couple photos from yesterday.
