Thicket my 9 month old English setter & I found some woodcock today in my Piney Creek covert. She has never smelled a pen raised bird and only a handful of wild birds, but pointed the 4 woodcock she found today. The first 3 she crept in on and bumped but the last one she held and I was able to walk in and flush the bird. I've got a smile so big my face hurts. rofl
Here she is locked up on the last bird.

Went back to Piney Creek yesterday and Thicket put on quite the show. Pointed 5 woodcock with the last point being a double flush. Here's a couple of pics.

Sweet! Looks like she is gonna be a good one! wish i could post some pics also but mother nature is putting it to me. Hopefully Sunday i can head a little south and get a run in. Snowing good now got over 3" already

Great pictures! When I had my Brittany's I used to look for woodcock in March during the migration. It's times like that when I miss having a bird dog.

Thicket and I found a pair of woodcock yesterday.
She's hunting and pointing well beyond my expectations. Damn I love this pup.
