The snow geese have returned to Middle Creek, so, I'd guess the woodcock are not far behind?

I'm really fortunate that the woods behind my house is a singing ground for woodcock Every March I stand in my back yard and watch the aerial display and hear the twittering noise they make. I've tried unsuccessfully to record the action but will attempt it again this year. They normally don't show up here on the mountain until about the third week in March (next week). The winter may have delayed them but the weather we've had lately should help.

They have arrived! I just let the dogs out and that familiar peent sound that woodcock make was coming from the thicket behind my house. Spring has officially arrived at 7:50 PM March 16th 2015.

They maybe sneaking or maybe it's the filthy pointers I am running. Maybe need to invest in one of those high powered shags with a choke bore nose.
GH you're heading south, but I am heading north. Not expecting much, but I will still have a good time.

That goes without saying the trainer blows.
