1982.... We had good prices two years ago but you have to figure, looking at these prices, that things cost so much less back then. Gasoline was around a $1.00 a gallon, a shopping cart full of groceries was around $20.00 to $30.00 and high end new vehicles were around $10,000.00.

They have made it that trapping no longer pays.

For those having a hard time reading the prices, here are some highlights...
Eastern Red Fox: $48.00 to $70.00
Eastern Raccoon: $32.00 to $40.00
Eastern Muskrat: $4.50 to $5.50
Northeastern Beaver: $25.00 to $30.00
Eastern Mink: $28.00 to $32.00
This is pretty much what the prices were two years ago also. The big difference, this was BIG MONEY in 1982.

How bout these March 1922 prices? Or these Jan. 1935 prices? And take notice that this is for extra large #1 hides. Also look at the bottom of the 1922. PETA would love seeing house cat on there in today's world. LOL My how things have changed in this country.

Dang, a person could make a good living back in those days with the prices shown there. I imagine the animals were a bit more scarce back then but really puts things into perspective. I'm sure stray cats were not as common back the either.......

Yes I believe you could make a good living then and I would bet my fox catch this yr there wasn't as many feral cats back then as today for sure! If only we could get back to those 1922 house cat population numbers. I buy a lot of these old fur house papers and I buy all I can find that have House Cat listed. I buy them and matte and frame them and give them as thank you gifts each year to the land owners that daughter and I trap on. It seems they all get a good laugh when they see the House Cat listed. They all seem to have the same feelings as I do about feral cats.
