Interstate Transportation of Firearms and Ammunition Bill IntroducedU.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) recently introduced H.R. 131, a bill that would more comprehensively address the interstate transportation of firearms and ammunition for law-abiding gun owners. Current federal law guarantees the right of law-abiding persons to transport firearms between two locations where they have a legal right to possess and carry them, regardless of state or local laws that would otherwise apply. The firearm must be cased or otherwise not readily accessible. Unfortunately, anti-gun local officials are using overly restrictive state licensing laws to harass and prosecute travelers who have made every effort to comply with the law, resulting in seized guns that are sometimes never returned, delayed travel, legal fees, and sometimes even unnecessary guilty pleas. www.nraila.org/articles/20150116/interstate-transportation-of-firearms-and-ammunition-bill-introduced

It may not be apparent to some, but this is a major issue. I believe the below is factual. I forget the exact details without doing a search.
Police agencies are regularly scanning license tags of passing vehicles. One report I heard recently was a Florida man with a CCW was pulled over in Maryland. He was stopped because the computer showed the car owner to have a CCW, which is not recognized in Maryland. He was asked during the stop if he had a weapon in car. He did. Arrested and gun confiscated.

A guy had a camp near the NY state line. His dog got sick, so, ran it to the vet in NY. Got ulled over for speeding by a town cop. Cop came up, asked for registration. Guy had his handgun in the glovebox, and told the cop he did and had a permit for it. Cop said the PA permit meant nothing and he could be charged with a felony and thrown in jail. Cop had him lock it in the truck cap.
Another guy fom PA was caught by a NY state cop, same type situation, and spent 2 days in jail and now has a felony on his record.
