This might not be the correct place for this topic but i figure you uplanders might have some insight. Am I only one that can't hit a straight away shot? left to right, right to left i will connect (every now and then) but straight away shots i'm horrible with.
Had 4 straight away grouse shots the other day and not a feather was touched hahaha

Uh... excuse me, where did you find four Grouse? Seems to me, sometimes the easiest looking shots are the hardest.

so i shouldn't say i found 12 grouse then? no i didn't find any that's it : )
yeah I have never been good at the straight away shot i'm not sure if im shooting over or under
looks like ill be doing some practice this summer

LOL tcaddis was to come up but he bailed on me, but he shoots as good as i do so there would still be 12 grouse out there haha

What gauge, choke, shot size, and distances were involved? Lets start from the start.

20ga, not sure on choke its an old fox dbl and the guy i got it from did open them a little and i shoot 7.5's shot. distances vary but from 15yds to 25
its been like this always i can usually hit crossing but straight out i don't. i want to say i bring it up and when its covering the bird is shoot

He had trouble getting up and away, and then headed straight down the trail. Last bird that did that, died. He's lucky I had a rifle in my hands......

I can't tell you the last time I saw a grouse. What does one look like? It's bad in my area.

I can't say how you missed. It's easy to miss under 30 yards with full choke.
