About 20 years ago I bought a Model 99 Savage in .358 caliber. I looked around for ammo and decided to check out The Keystone Country Store in Fort Loudon because a couple of the fellows there used .358's out west to hunt elk in the black timber. Sure enough, they had about 12 boxes on the shelves. I asked one of the salesmen, who just happened to have a .358, how many boxes they'd let me buy. He said he didn't care if I bought all the boxes so I did...for $16 bucks a box. When he asked why I bought them all I said I heard that they were going to discontinue making it. He got his trade paper out from under the counter and sure enough, it wasn't listed any more. I got the ammo manly for the brass and my next purchase was a set of dies for reloading. I've done the same thing for most of my rifles to ensure that I can always reload in case of ammo shortages.

Tim, a good place to check are your larger gun shows. There are fellows that deal only in ammunition and sometimes you can find "old stock" like new in the bottoms of boxes if you look in all of them. Good luck!
