Yup! Shot a hen in the thick woods next to the fields. I'm a bit chewed up. 3 other guys I was with each got a rooster. Fun time, no dogs with us either. No wind and you could see the tall grass moving as they ran around.
Also saw a bunch of fresh scrapes and rubs. One brand new rub was just started on a 6-7in diameter tree!

I came home from camp on Sunday to retrieve Mugs, my English setter and drove back to camp with him Sunday evening. Mugs, Larry, and I went out on Monday morning in the frosty fields. He found and pointed two pheasants, but Larry and I being the lousy game shots we are, we missed them both. Mugs did his job, but we did not do ours. It got really warm later in the day so I came home to rest up for a few days. My knees are giving me a bit of trouble, and a few days of not busting brush is in order. Plan is to return to camp on Thursday and hunt birds both Thursday and Friday. The weather comedian is predicting rain Friday afternoon, changing to snow by Saturday morning. We may decide to stay in camp until the snow ends. I'll report back when we get home.
