When filling out your harvest tag it asks for point on left side and points on right side .... which side of the deer is right and which side is left ? Is It facing the deer or looking from the rear? And can anyone show me in black an white why your answer is correct? ?? Just show me where in the hunting regs this is posted

Right and left are universal. A deer has a right antler just as you have a right arm. Your right arm doesn't become your left arm because someone is looking at you head on.

I don't think it needs to be written, as like RC just said, it is universal.

That one throws a lot of people. When I measure at the ESOS, at least 1/2 of the people ask that question. But Ridge is correct. It would be the deer's left or right antler as it were if it were still on its head and you were looking at it from behind.
I believe it is in the B&C and P&Y manual; but my manual isn't here with me. I am not an official measurer for either of them, but I am an official measurer for the QDMA. We use the same scoring sheets.

What makes it universal ?? where is it written? ? Is there a time when your right arm is not your right arm? Or your right eye is not your right eye?

yes...when youre looking in a mirror Just because thats the way its always been, doesn't make it right I work in the medical profession. Is it your opinion that my patients are the ones that determine which shoulder is their right shoulder and which is their left? I don't know, when someone comes in with a prescription for right shoulder pain, I treat their right shoulder.

Rich, please disabuse yourself of the notion that most folks have such a thing as common sense. ;D
If I go to the doctor and say that I have pain in my right hand, I hope he will not examine the one on his right unless he is standing behind me. I am not sure why this one is a big problem to anyone, nor why they would want it written down in ink, paint, or even stone. The form asks for the number of points on the deer's right and left antlers, not on yours. The deer has a right side and a left side just as you do. I am right handed, but to a person facing me I am using the hand on HIS left. So which is my left hand?

The correct answer is "Your OTHER right". It's kinda like pushing when the sign on the door says PULL, ain't it.

Welp, I reckon if you straddle said Buck ? and grab the horns, the right will be the bone you grab with your right hand. But if Deer are "reverse threaded", all bets are off.

This is a family oriented message board (where have I heard that before?). Something seems a bit perverted about straddling a buck. ;D
