Thinkin of donating my ole Leo 33 oz Wind River to the Mrs since she's hoggin it up here lately whutchin the bird & ponies while we're down in Chincoteague!!
Porro prisms are fine optics if you have a strong back! Just hope she doesn't convert into one of dem whacko bird whutcher types!!
Got my eyes on this recent Leupold offering:

Loggy, I paid about that much for my Redfield Rebel's 10x42's about 5 years ago. Now, the Redfield is listed at 5.9" long but weigh's 26.4oz. And as you know....when you carry that chunk of metal 'n glass around all day it's worse than a frozen spreadsheet with a half-hour until the meeting starts!!!! Plus.....these are Leupold's!! Mine are it's ugly little cousin's!! OTOH, I've put mine thru a lot of abuse since I've purchased 'em and give 'em a 5 star rating. I would not hesitate to buy the Redfield's again.....except I would buy these new Luppy's first because they are Luppy's and they are 4.4 oz lighter. I'm looking forward to the review when you get 'em!!! (Notice how I can spend your money pretty fast!!) fighting0092 Dave

I figured they would not be junk. Again, I'm not unhappy with the Redfields that I purchased. My only complaint is the weight. But they have been very good performers and I pick out the groundhogs as well as anyone else with any other brand. But then, I don't hunt with anyone who has a set of Zeiss.

Glen, that's a darn good price for a pair of Leup's. I paid more than that for the Redfield's that I have. (10x42's) But, like I said I've put the Redfields thru my "war" and they are still holding up. My only complaint is the Redfield weight. But I carry a bunch of "stuff" so the lighter things are, the more I like 'em.
FWIW
Dave
I don't "need" a pair.....but.......

Never can have too many binos Dave!!
Had a chance to take em outdoors & they are outstanding in ALL regards. Very lite/compact, seems ruggedly built, user friendly focus dials, generous eye relief plus a very bright sharp view!! Leo has a real winner with their new BX-1 offering!!!

It's a done deal Loggy! Great Glenn!!
I think you and my Grandpap went to the same school!
Both my girls are fishergals but nonhunters. Hoping a Grandkid who has interest in hunting may come along some day for me to spoil with all these fun hunting toys!!!!

There's an excellent article in the NRA American Hunter September 2015 issue on Page 110 by Field Editor Ron Spomer on Leupold's BX-1 McKenzie. Ron concluded that the Leupold BX-1 held its own against some higher end Zeiss, Swarovski models!!
After owning/using my Leupold BX-1 McKennzie now for about a year...I'm totally pleased. Best bino ive ever owned hands down.
NRA members who get the American Hunter...be sure to check this article out if ur in the market for a bino!!
