Couple days ago at the Goose Farm I was talking to the farmers Son, Wesley. He's a fine young man of 16 years and really tuned in to this goose hunting.
But first a little background info. Back in the early 1970's I leased this farm from his Grandpa, Walter. About 7 years ago Walter got his Son Gary to take over the farm. Now Gary has 7 children, 5 daughters and 2 Sons, one of the Sons is Wesley. So I'm dealing with the 3rd generation at the goose farm.
They are what is known around here as Black Bumper Mennonites. They have vehicles but paint all the chrome black cause that chrome is too worldly. Wesley, as was his Dad, was pulled outta school at the tender age of 14 to work on the farm.
This past Monday while talking with Wesley he tells me how this past March he found a goose neck collar in the middle of the farm field. No goose just the collar. I explained how you can report the collar and get info and a certificate detailing the bird. He was amazed! When I ask him if they have a computer he said about the one in the barn. I then offered to do it for him, all I needed were the letters off the band.
Today while we were hunting Wesley and his younger Brother Andrew showed up and had the neck collar with them.
Wesley on the right, Andrew on the left.
So I just got finished reporting the collar and of course when you have the collar only, with no leg band the info is sketchy.
More info to come
Printed the info and will give it to Wesley tomorrow and hope the Feds can come up with more info for a certificate.
