As most of you know, I do much of my hunting and fishing out of Camp Rip-N-Tear in southern Somerset County. There is a shooting preserve close to our camp, On Point Outfitters, that does bird hunting for quail, chukars, and pheasants, and I have this English setter named Mugs. Mike and Eric hosted a hunt for members of another message board last year. It was put together by Vince Smith who used to be part owner of the outfit, and who died this past year after a long battle with cancer. It occured to me that maybe members of this message board might be interested in such a thing as they did last year.
I have scheduled a trip to check out their hunting and how the birds fly with my buddy Larry for September 10 and 11. Of course I will report on what fun we had and will try to get a photo or two for your enjoyment.
What I was thinking about with the title of this thread is as follows. If any of our members here would be interested in doing something such as this, I could set up a hunt, perhaps after the PA hunting seasons are over, where a group of us could descend upon the cabin and go out for some bird hunting. This might make a nice way to break up the winter doldrums. We could schedule two half-days (an afternoon hunt followed by the next morning). The evening could be spent getting to know fellow hunters, perhaps quaffing an adult beverage or two if so inclined, and just enjoying the scenery. The cabin has enough sleeping accomodations for perhaps eight or more, but not too much in the way of private bedrooms. We do have running water, a flush toilet, a shower complete with hot water, electricity, and satellite TV (optional. It can be turned off). We do not have hot and cold running chambermaids.
Just wondering if there would be any sort of interest in this type of outing. Don't everyone shout at once.
