I want to thank Andy Bensing for recommending some things for my home brew dog food. Lexi is 15, and she can't eat dry, doesn't LIKE (translate that to refuse to eat for days) canned food. So, its ground meat and rice with mashed carrots and taters for added nutrients. The rice gave her gas, but they have to have carbs. A couple of spoon fulls of yogurt with active cultures before a meal takes care of MUCH of that. Her gas was so bad before the yogurt that it would clear a room, set off the carbon monoxide detector, and make ya cry. We had a problem getting her to eat the food with carrots or green beans, so Andy suggested mashing them with a few taters. Worked like a charm. Anyone else make their own?

We've been making our own for quite some time know... ever since all the dog food scare's... In fact the wife just bought some fancy pressure cooker just for that purpose.. Sometime's I'll buy 40 pound box's of chicken breast's just to be cooked deboned and cut up for them.. Mixture consist's of carrot's,noodle's,rice and other assorted veggie's... Portion's get put in zip lock bag's and frozen. And in a pinch I'll even heat one up for me.. Dog's get treated better than me.. LOL But they are our children..
Gal yogurt is supposed to be good for itching.. So they get some of that in their diet too.. And it's does help..

Apparently, neither is his dog!
However, there would be a bright side. With the dog eating is own poop, Rich would rarely have to clean the yard. ;D

2 1/4 cups of whole wheat flour 1/4-1/2 cup milk 1 egg 1 beef bullion cube dissolved in a 1/2 cup of HOT water 1 tbsp of brown suger 1/2 cup of Veg. oil(or bacon grease) Bake at 350 until dry in appearence
mix all ingredients into a batter
my wife likes to also add a little extra flour to stiffen up the mixture so she can roll it out and use a cookie cutter shaped like a dog bone
She also likes to use bacon grease instead of the Veg. oil as it adds "more flavor" for the dogs.
