During the 1970s when I was heavily into horseback field trialing with my English setters, I knew Paul Ober. We thought enough of him and the way he treated his animals to loan him a pony for his kids to ride for a couple of years. I would never have done so if I thought Annie Pony would have been abused. She was not.
All hunting dog kennels are targets for PETA/HSUS/SPCA zealots. First off, they do not believe in dogs being used to hunt because they hate hunting and hunters. I take any article about an SPCA investigation with a grain of salt anymore. While I don't condone animal cruelty, their definition of cruelty and mine are not even close to being the same.
As is the case with me, Paul is a bit longer in the tooth than I remember him from those days, but then, that was nearly forty years ago. I hope he survives this and manages to fight back with effect.

All 5 summary charges against Paul Ober were dismissed by D.J. Book yesterday.

All 5 summary charges against Paul Ober were dismissed by D.J. Book yesterday. I seriously doubt that that tidbit of information will be splashed all over the news. I find it incredible that the SPCA can Hitler right in on a "tip" and essentially turn the man's place upside down and use their SPCA "judgement" to file charges.

Long story made short - charges were dismissed because DJ determined officer filing the charges was not a sworn state officer.

BTW - Hope he can find a way to sue them to the hilt!!! They put his dog to death. I'd go after them. You know, that's the thing. You have a dog that's worth, I dunno...let's say $1,000. Or even $2,000. So, now you look to engage an attorney to recover the value of your dog. The attorney fees are likely to cost you $5,000 or even more. And perhaps you will make your point to the ASPCA. But I doubt it. The guys who storm in and are using their "judgment" could give a rat's a$$ about killing your dog, turning your place upside down, and causing you a million in bad publicity. These idiots make their $40,000 a year....if that....and are quite content to go home at night, eat their dinner, call it a day, and do it all over again tomorrow. To them, there is no punishment for having done this. There is no "wrong" they have done. The same thing happens in the Sales Tax Bureau with sales tax audits. It's so stupid you can't even laugh about it. Business owners pay thru the nose either for tax assessments that are just flat out wrong, or for representation to have bogus assessments reversed, and there are no repercussions to the individual who inflicted the pain. You can cry foul all you want...but it's meaningless. Just saying...... Dave

I know Dave. Its just WRONG that they have any kind of "authority" to kill someone's FAMILY without as much as a hearing. I mean, this is an ANIMAL RIGHTS group is it not? Where was the dog's advocate speaking on its behalf to a judge?
If they are about the RIGHTS of an animal, then the animal should have the RIGHT to have someone speak for them.
Some sarcasm there, not all. For the owners sake; at least; a hearing before putting them down would be in order in many of these cases, I'd assume.

Yes Gal.....hence the "given" name of "SPCA Gestapo". It fits like a glove.
