Keep Politics Out of Wildlife Management Sportsmen have been very vocal in our opposition to HB 1576, the Threatened and Endangered Species bill. The bill would make it more difficult for PFBC to designate Wild Trout Streams, is rearing its ugly head again. While our letters, emails and calls to our Representatives kept the bill from a floor vote in March, the politicians are trying again. They met with "stakeholders"(sportsmen weren't invited). and came up with a new ploy. An amended HB 1576 [ or a new bill number ] may be introduced / voted on by the House Game and Fisheries Committee on Monday, April 28. The old bill had IRRC (a politically-appointed board) second-guessing PGC and PFBC decisions regarding designations of threatened and endangered species. The new version substitutes an “independent science advisory board (ISAB)” that could reject recommendations for listing of wild trout streams and listing of threatened and endangered species. If the House leadership had included TU and other sportsmen’s groups in the discussions, ISAB might have been a real "advisory" board. As it is, this board could reject agency input, putting Federal funding from the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson Acts in jeopardy. Keep the politics out of wildlife management. We doubt that our politicians have PhD's in Biology. Send a quick e-mail to your Representative and help to protect the critters. www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/contact.cfm?body=H

Bump to draw some attention to the continued ridiculousness. I hope these folks realize that there are a lot of sportsmen and women in this state and things like this will not be forgotten at election time. Seems pretty clear that their constituents are against this yet they continue on. Just who are they working for really? I think we all know the answer.
