Last year my brother and I bid on a grouse hunt at an RGS banquet, donated by a fellow board member here, Tcaddis. So, this year my brother gets the idea that we should do the same to raise money for Woodcock Limited. So, we offered a 2 day Potter/Tioga hunt for this fall.
At last nights WL banquet the hunt went for $675! All proceeds going to Woodcock Limited.
When we went with Tcaddis last fall, it was great just to hunt a different part of the state, with some terrific people.
I'm sure this will be another great experience, and will help a good cause.
Nice work Grouse28!

We still have some excellent grouse hunting around here Jim.About 4 yers ago,I scouted a new piece on Moshannon state forest for deer. It's a long steep climb but once you get to the top,it's nothing but small grapevine tangle after grapevine tangle. It's easy to hunt because it only takes one guy and many of the shots are in more open woods.Personally,I think the population is on an upswing around here.

I will put a reminder in my phone for next October, maybe we can do a combo hunt, where there are grouse there are usually deer.

Let me know. This is a good spot for deer as well. It's a fairly steep climb for about 20 minutes and then it's just all rolling ravines chokes with patches of grapevines.I usually only hunt for grouse on the last day of the early season and after Christmas but I would do an early hunt.
They stopped dmaping that section two years ago so I haven't hunted deer there since then but there's no shortage of them.

Maybe I can get a antlerless tag for that WMU and your son could fill it, in the early season.

You wouldn't have to twist his arm very hard lol. That's OK though,we have have plenty of tags to fill.It would give me an excuse to do something other than hunt deer.He killed his first woodchuck over the weekend. He was shooting his bow when I noticed one between the woods and the horse pasture.I walked up the house, grabbed a .17 hornet and let him take the shot.To be honest,I didn't think he'd get it but he nailed it at 90 yards.

Its been so cold here the woodchucks have been few and far between, the coyotes get the careless ones real quick.
A doe might be tasty bout mid October, prime grilling weather.
