While hunting this morning for quail, pheasants and chukars, we flushed 3 woodcock. Spring HAS to be here, right?

I think our ground is still to frozen for them just yet, but it shouldn't be long before they start showing up, great little birds to train dogs on.

This evening Kath and I went out to see if we could hear some woodcock at our club. Probably heard about a half dozen in the warm season grasses, and saw 2 for sure and heard wings in there.
First time we have even heard doodles and nice to know we have them in the area. We have a nice wetland close by and some thick cover, so, we should have some nests this spring.

dougell You need to cook them with the intestines, a delicacy in France. Try it sometime.
