State Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson) appointed State Senator Rich Alloway (R-Franklin) to leadership by naming him the Senate Caucus Administrator. State Senator John Gordner (R-Columbia) was named to Caucus Chair.
Speaker of the House Sam Smith (R-Jefferson) will not seek re-election this year for the State House seat he was first elected to in 1986. Sam has been Speaker since 2011, and prior to that spent eight years as Leader (both Majority and Minority) of the House Republican Caucus. He led the GOP caucus through the tumultuous “Bonusgate” years and leaves them with a comfortable majority. We would like to raise a glass to the next chapter, Mr. Speaker…
The following members will not be seeking reelection in 2014:
• (6/3/13) Sen. Mike Brubaker (R-Lancaster)
• (8/9/13) Sen. Mike Waugh (R-York) (resigned from Senate 1/12/14)
• (8/23/13) Sen. Edwin Erickson (R-Delaware)
• (11/7/13) Rep. Jerry Stern (R-Blair)

• (11/19/13) Rep. Chris Ross (R-Chester)
• (12/2/13) Rep. Phyllis Mundy (D-Luzerne)
• (12/3/13) Rep. Dick Stevenson (R-Mercer)
