It was 444lb dressed. It looks good in the picture probably better yet in person.

Nice mount, Stroupy. I agree with your dad. I'm sure he thought that bear deserved that mount.

Since good work should always be recognized, who was the taxidermist? If he does work that nice he should get a few jobs from this one.

The price of a mount is secondary to the quality of the work the taxidermist does. It is rare to find one that is both low priced and good. Keep this one on the string.

Some wanted 1000 more then him. I don't know the address will get it for you though. Bruce's facebook page. He did two moose for me and two whitetail buck. I was happy with his work until I took him my bear for a rug. Two years later he still only had the Bear's head mounted and hadn't begun on the rugwork. I asked him if he wanted to finish it and he told me I could pick it up unfinished for $150. I did. Then I took it to Quentin Taxidermy and he gave me a beautiful rug and he's been doing my work ever since. One time since then I tried to give Wilson work, I shot a large buck and gave him a call and he asked me if I could keep it in my freezer until January! Quentin got that buck too and it turned out as good as anything I've seen. I also remember taking a cow moose hide to Wilson and he told me it was spoiled and I needed to throw it away. I did. Later on I talked to Quentin taxidermy about that hide and he asked me "was the hair slipping"? I said no. Then he said "well it wasn't spoiled then so either he didn't know what he was talking about or he just didn't want to do the job". I took my son's buck this year to Quentin and I'm not looking back.

Well I don't know the man personally. I can't really give a personal view on him other then what I see with him and my dad's bear.

He's an excellent taxidermist but I could have said a lot more than I did. I'm not out to destroy the guy but at the same time I can't sit by and listen to him being praised as the best taxidermist around at the best price. Some of that is true but the guy did a lot to lose my trust and the trust of two relatives of mine.

Very cool! Where's it going? He has a barn room in his basement where he has his mounts should look good in there. Old barn wood for the walls and rusty tin for his ceiling very nice looking room.

Here is my dad's bears final resting place. I didn't realize I got my 3 year old in the photo but it shows you how big it is compared to her.

Man Brian, that's a nice sized bear when compared to the height of your daughter! I just didn't see 444# of bear until I saw it compared to her. I think it actually looks bigger than it does in the first picture with something to gauge the size to. Nice looking mount!

When I saw my daughter compared to it you could really get an idea of just how big it really is.

With her in that pic it really gives perspective as to size. I like the barn siding paneling and the old gun behind it. Nice setting.
