Hate to think of it but getting near the time. Any fishing i will be doing next month or so will bee from the surf.
Curious...how many of you boaters fog your engines? Been readiing that running gas out is all thats really necessary with the fine oils that are out there now(assuming you have a 2-stroke). I always drain & refill lower unit hough just incase water was present but in all the years ive boated never have detected any contamination.

The nice thing about 4 strokes is how clean they are, I run the left over gas in my gator and just run whats in the motor out.
A set of New plugs and a tank of fuel and the ice out crappies need be scared.

I know the 4 strokes have some advantages over the 2's and visa versa. I also know that my Johnson Dealer has a long waiting list for any 2-strokes that are traded in!

Ask your local Honda dealer that question.

I dunno what the heck "fogging" is, but I do know that on snowblowers for the summer and mowers (both my power push & riding that my nephews beat to death as I pay them to cut my grass) I always add Stable to the gas. This doesn't allow the gas to gum up in the carb or lines over a long sit. Works great.
FWIW

Fogging is shooting some OB fogging oil(a liteweight oil) into the carb intakes till the engine shuts off. Helps potect carb and cylinders etc. Also, many remove the plugs & shoot some in each cyl then turn engine over a few times to distribute oil

Why don't you have one of those "proven" 2 strokes in your truck?

Why don't you have one of those "proven" 2 strokes in your truck? Likely due pressure from the auto industry would suffer due to 2-strokes negating their built-in obsolescence in their wunderful 4 strokers!! Case in point..have a 2-stroke Lawn Boy mower now going on its 35 year without a burp!!

My lips are sealed, I won't let your secret out to any of the big three.
How about the Pacific Asian market, If we get in now I predict huge returns before the fat guy and his reindeer are upon us.

The first Saabs imported into this country were 2 strokes.

And with smashing success I might add. Of course I've been seeing Audi, diesel commercials as of lately. I remember going to those pristine Canadian lakes with my father walleye fishing when I was a kid, I loved all the wonderful colors that those great 2 cycle, plug fouling, hard starting motors spilled onto the lake surface.

If a 2 stroke is properly tuned there is minimal fouling. The decreased transom stress/weight, longevity plus added torque them makes them a good choice. Next thing they will come up with a 4-stroke chainsaw that you will need a hoist to lift! lol

"Minimal" being the relative term. Its just some thing I don't miss a single bit with my smooth, quite and clean running 4 stroke motor.

Needed a lil tune-up work on my Johnson so decided to leave JLC Marine in E-Town do the work plus had them winterize motor. Jeff Clark(Owner) is one of the best marine mechanics ive ever dealt with. A straight shooter no BS type of guy.....which is why this is the second boat i bought from Jeff! He felt fogging is important considering our investment we have in our OB's.

So when "fogging" do you run all of the gas out of the carbs or do you let the plugs foul and the motor stall?

You have engine running & warmed up using stabilized/treated gas. Then you squirt the fogging oil into the carbs till the ending starts to smoke & shuts down. Next remove each spark plug & squirt fogging oil into each cylinder and replace plugs. Turn the engine over once or twice(w/spark plug wires unhooked).
