This bird was sighted about a mile north of the Weaver Falls bridge on Lake Raystown last Wednesday. My initial identification was that it was a double crested cormorant, but it seems to have a lot of gray on back and chest, which is not a feature mentioned in Peterson's Field Guide. It may be an immature specimen. any thoughts? Wednesday was a great day of birding on the lake.

I know little green herons, stroupy. Their bill is straight. This bird had a hook on the end of the bill like a cormorant.

That tail is a good field mark that it is a cormorant. When they are flying they look like they can go in either direction, pointy at both ends.
