Flushed a bunch of grouse last weekend. Two groups, maybe 75 yds apart. Must have been 15-20 little ones.
Previous weekend, flushed a group with maybe 7-8 little ones.
Perhaps we had a good hatch this year?
Anyone else seeing good numbers?

In the last few years, in archery and also deer season, it is not unusual for me to flush up to 15 at a time from one spot. Pretty cool.

I normally flush quite a few in archery season. I've seen a dozen or so recently out in Wash. County.

Saw a bunch of little, very little, ones last week. They couldn't have been more than a week old. Mom was fussin' and one (I think he was related to Dutch LOL) just stood there and didn't hide.

I'm going to have to change counties for Grouse. I just don't see the grouse that i used to in Sullivan county but it sounds like there is plenty up where Dutch is.

Do you gotta be part of "the clique"?

I have observed a very positive improvement of the grouse population in Sullivan County over the past 2-3 years. Almost every day afield while Early ML, Bear plus Reg Deer season I seem to flush several grouse which in past year was rare.

Sounds good to me but you know as well as I do that winter sometimes sets in hard in October in Potter Co.

Sounds like a good idea. My 13 year old dog is too old to be of any use but my 73 year old Winchester model 12 would love to make the trip!
