Not really, but did you pay more into the system than he did? This is the reason I am in favor of scrapping the entire tax code and replacing it with a flat rate income tax with no deductions or with a value added or sales tax. In the first place the code is so complicated now that even the IRS agents do not fully understand it. Secondly, the legiscritters have used it to buy votes. Third, we have this "the rich aren't paying their fair share" crapola when the rich pay 70 % of the entire income tax take. Fourth, Romney was right. With 47% of our citizens taking more out of the system than they put into it, and with most wanting more yet, we all need to take a deep breath. My favorite Murphy's law corellary: The intelligence of the human species is a constant. The population is increasing. Hear Hear Mutt.. On another front, I was advised many years ago by an extremely successful person that if you wanted to be a rich man start any kind of business that makes people think they are more attractive to the opposite sex, or gives them false hope. He thought televangelism was a guaranteed way to make a fortune especially if you are good looking and have the gift of gab. I think Obama talked to the same guy.. As far as the economy goes, we are still in deep kimchee. I live in one of the most economically stable areas of the country with a large Federal Government presence. Employment has remained pretty consistent in these parts. However, income is down. Families are being bankrupted by energy prices, food prices, local income taxes, property taxes, school costs, auto prices, clothing, etc. Just about everything needed by the average family has continued to rise in price but with no corresponding increase in family income. This combined with stupid financial adviser input to dump the family home and treat it like any other investment continues to hold property values down and encourages home owners to throw the keys on the table and walk. There is little penalty for not paying the mortgage and having a foreclosure. Heck, a lot of home owners have figured out that even if they quit paying the mortgage it can take 6 months to a year before the bank files a foreclosure action.. Live rent free for a long time! And by the time the bank can get title to the property, the aggravated home owner has stripped the house and sold anything of value. The bank ends up with a vandalized and stripped hulk that is not worth much more than the raw land. And no recourse. The home owner who stripped the house essentially still owned the house before the bank could get title. The whole situation stinks and it is not getting any better. Right now, the number of home owners who are behind in their mortgage, and near foreclosure is staggering nationwide. The only thing holding the banks back is making sure they cover all the legal bases before dropping the hammer. In my view, it is not just Obama and his annointed Czars who are clueless it is the entire Congress. Most of these elitists are coddled and spoiled brats who come from wealthy backgrounds. Very few of them have ever had a real job or had to empty the penny bank to buy a case of formula for the baby. They all need to go. Career politicians are the bulk of the problem. And after they all go, we need to find candidates who understand the Constitution of this country, not the rest of the world. understand the Govt does not print more money to stimulate the economy, understands that amnesty for illegal activity of any kind is not the right path, understand that critical components of the nations economic engine like energy need to be aggressively managed, understand that the Govt is not the best organization to dictate to Doctors and Hospitals who gets care and what kind, understand that this nation's freedoms are what made us great and to take them away guarantees third world status and corruption, understand that religious freedom is the cornerstone of our nation's strength and to stop playing religious favorites, understand that punishing the successful to reward the societal dropouts is not the answer, understand that education of our youth is absolutely critical to remaining the world's greatest super power and it will not happen without accountability. And, it would also help if they knew how to gut a moose! Need I go on? Sorry for the rant.. like Mutt I am getting old and grouchy..

Up until about a year or so ago, Alabama was controlled by the D's for almost back as far as records were kept. Those Dems were for the most part, very conservative, like what we now call the "Blue Dog Democrats." The democratic party, however, has mostly gone to the far left, whether or not the dems running on the ticket in Alabama were still conservative "blue dogs", they lost thier seats to republicans because of the liberal leaning democratic party. The same thing is happening in Congress. There's very few conservative democrats left. I'm a registered republican, but I haven't always voted republican. I vote based on the candidates values more than anything. I know I'm not going to like everything in a candidates platform, but I vote for the one who most closely matches my conservative values, especially my 2nd Amendment Rights. Too many people vote having too little data. They vote party line, just because they are registered by that party, or they vote for whom their union leaders tell them to vote. Too many don't even know what the candidates's real platform is. I've always said the majority of the population wasn't "educated" enough to vote. I was not referring to their IQ, but their base of understanding of what the candidate really stood for. And sadly, yes, we will always have that percentage of the population who will vote for who ever they think will continue to give them free phones and welfare checks because it is owed to them.
