WEST DEER TOWNSHIP, Penn. — Aaron Hwosdow, 17, looked at the black bear he bagged when he was out with his friend. “He seen it and told me it was coming, so I shot it at 25 yards, he only ran 40,” Hwosdow said. The teenager used a Martin Compound bow, and shot the bear from at 15 feet tall foot climber. The arrow struck the bear through its shoulder. “It could have been back a bit more,” he said, “but I was nervous.” Game officials said this is the first black bear shot with a bow and arrow in Allegheny County. They said the bear weighed roughly 350 pounds, and was six feet tall. As dozens of people in West Deer Township gathered around to watch this historic night of hunting, and looking at the size of the animal, Hwosdow recalled what went through his mind when he saw the bear coming toward him. “I didn't know what to do, I was freaking out. I just tried to focus on shooting it,” he said. Read more: www.wtae.com/news/local/allegheny/Teen-first-to-slay-bear-with-arrow-in-county/-/10927008/16672158/-/2p01oz/-/index.html#ixzz2776c5kKw

Good. that is the intent of the new regs for the SRA's. Shoot bears when you see them.
