After a VERY busy day at work today and 4 hours of driving, we got to camp! I haven't stayed overnight here since the first week of deer season.
Tomorrow will be spent clearing some blow downs on trails, fertilizing, and putting more seed on clover plots. ITS GONNA BE A GREAT DAY!!
What a beautiful drive up here this evening. Everything so green. The setting sun over the Susquehanna, just gorgeous.
Life is good!

How's the water level in Big Pine? Any mayflies in the air?

How's the water level in Big Pine? Any mayflies in the air? Water level could be a bit lower. Haven't seen any mayflies. It was flurrying when I was fertilizing food plots. Flushed three grouse, which always makes me smile

I suspect all the fracking activity and dumping of frack wastewater in this creek has killed everything off. I get chemical burns just touching the water. Damn Republicans!! 🙂

Nothing on Pine as I sit here and type this Cedar was one of my favorite streams to fish the years I lived in Tioga county. Those wild browns were maybe the toughest trout I ever fished. I Never caught any bigger than maybe 11 inches, but I saw a couple of them spawning at the end of a run one fall morning that were more than 25 inches long. The brookies I caught were usually pretty small. Cedar run is one of the prettiest streams I have ever fished. I have heard that it and Slate run get fished much harder now than back in the day. I hope to get a day on big Pine near the head of the Canyon sometime before the second week of June. Maybe I'll try to catch the green drake below the swinging bridge. Did they make the little parking area at the end of the road any bigger, Dutch? I would expect that part of the stream get fished much harder now then when I lived there.

The parking lot is huge, and even has plugs for your electric car. Bring your bike and ride the rail trail right to the swinging bridge. The stocked today from Gaines the whole way to Tiadaghton. Must be 15 miles. Three fish commission stocking trucks were on their way when I passed them in Wellsboro. The four miles from Ansonia to the swinging bridge is now Heritage Select DHALO. Lots of big ones in there.

I always drove down Owassee rd and walked down past the camps on the other side of the creek. Turning around at the gate at the top was a scary maneuver then.
Did they make any real improvements to Tiadaghton Rd since the nineties?

Did they make any real improvements to Tiadaghton Rd since the nineties? Last year when we stocked, we put roughly 900 trout in at Tiadaghton.

The streams should be back to decent conditions unless those heavy rains come before then. Plan to hit the Loyalsock and Mill Creek in the afternoon's after being fooled by those "brainless" gobblers in the morning!
