These just popped up from my Google photos. We were in Gatlinburg to do some hiking in the Smokey Mountains 2 years ago in May. If you like to watch bears this is the place to go. You can't spit without hitting a bear. We were about 2 miles in when I spotted this one off to our right about 25 yards away. I was able to get some pics before she decided to tell us to leave. She growled and bluff charged us. These 3 were grabbing a snack at the hotel acroos the street from us. A little hide & seek If you've never been there it's a great place to visit. You can camp, stay in a hotel or rent a home in the woods.

The wife and I spent a week there ,probably 15, 20 years ago. I don’t think we saw a bear. Great area to spend a week’s vacation.

We've always seen bears on the mountain and especially down in Cades Cove area.
