Yeah. With all of their stipulations attached to it. I say screw them and move forward on the darn bill. When the PFB bashed hunters in the press as unsafe, they lost me. The PGC has bent over backwards for them over the years and then when the discussion became SH, it was war on hunters. Screw them.

How much money does the Farm Bureau contribute to the coffers of the PGC? I thought the PGC operated for the hunters and on the revenues from the hunting community. I think it's time the PGC grew a pair and told the Farm Bureau to bugger off!

Republican or Democrat doesn’t matter. Every legislator has someone in their back pocket, dirty but that’s how it’s done. You scratch my butt and I’ll scratch yours. Not necessarily money wise, but that does happen some, but favor wise. Done in business all the time too.

I don’t care who the road block is anymore. I wasn’t in favor of it in the beginning and I’m still not, not in favor of the Saturday opener for bear and rifle deer either. It’s done so be it, I’m tired of discussing it. If you want to hunt on Sunday, it’s allowed, if you don’t, don’t. Guest I’m just one of the old fogies that all the young folks are waiting around to die, so they can have it their way.🤣

My boss is a very strict Christian, he only listens to Christian radio stations. Didn't know who Jimmy Buffet was when he died.
He will go out to eat or shop on a Sunday, but our store isn't open on Sundays.
He won't hunt on Sunday.
Someone needs to explain this to me.

He will go out to eat or shop on a Sunday, but our store isn't open on Sundays. He won't hunt on Sunday. Someone needs to explain this to me. We’ll it’s not going to be me, wish I could but I can’t, and I do consider myself a christian man. I also know I’m going to have a lot of explaining to do to my maker on judgement day. The closing of his store on Sunday I can understand. the Bible says we aren’t to do any work on the sabbath, this even included the making of meals. Then again the sabbath was/is the Saturday for the Jews, and is the sabbath in the Bible. The last 25 years of my working life I was required to work some Sundays, shift work, various days off. So you could say I broke the sabbath then also. I grew up on a dairy farm, the only work we did on Sunday was milk the cows and feed the livestock, no other work was done. There was no hunting then on Sunday, so I don’t know if we would of done so if it was legal, but we did fish at times, usually after supper. Back in those days the stores weren’t open either. We did attend a local baseball game in the afternoon now and then though. As you know I’m not in favor of Sunday hunting, but at the same time I do some, call me a hypocrite you you like. I bear hunt the open Sunday and I usually hunt the first Sunday of rifle deer, I hunt no other Sundays. I do so because my grandsons are off school and I try to hunt as much as possible with them. At the same time, and it may be wrong, one of those things I may have to explain, but I think it’s better for me to be in the woods thinking of God, then being in church thinking about hunting. It’s now allowed and I no longer care, one way or the other, but at the same time if it was rescinded I wouldn't be upset. I guest it’s up to the individual, what he feels is right or wrong, or what he feels is included in a day of rest according to his biblical beliefs.

I used to hate the idea of Sunday hunting. I now think the way the PGC introduced it over the past couple years was a wise move on their part and if they leave it that way or make it every Sunday is fine with me. I do have some concern that I may disturb other hunters on my Sunday stomps through the woods during archery season. I doubt I will hunt, but I don't want to give up the Sunday hikes. I hunt land open to others and one has to expect to see other users.
From hating the idea at first, to not caring much either way, to thinking it's probably a good move. My wife claims I hate seeing the things I like change even a little bit. I suppose she's right.

Ya know, at least here in the SE, with our huge population that uses our public lands, our hunters are used to people out for walks. The thing is, those walkers generally stick to trails. Also, with so many hunters, someone is always moving in the woods. The fears of messing up hunts are inflated

My Sunday hikes are usually accompanied by my wife(sons are grown n ) and are a combination of scouting, hiking, and mushroom hunting, so our travels are pretty meandering and off trail . I would guess that we actually move more deer in front of hunters than we scare away, the thinking hunter shouldn't mind too much. I don't hunt the ANF often and if I do see the rare person, he/she is usually hunting to or has a big dog with them.

Thinking of the question you posed as to the store owner "not knowing" of Jimmy Buffett. I'm thinking he likely does.....but doesn't want to admit it. Shatters what he thinks is his image.
As for eating out and buying at other stores on Sundays, he does it because he wants to. And he closes his store because he doesn't want any problems to crop up. He just wants a day off.
