Moose hunting......it's to bad you couldn't direct the 1,000-lb animal to get close to your car first.........

I've been drawn in both of them. In NH it was so easy. I didn't even make it to my parking spot the first morning. I jumped out of my truck and had my choice of Bulls. I kept going back Bear hunting the rest of the week and saw bulls everyday. Now VT on the other hand took me right down to the last day of the hunt until I got a chance at a Bull. I've gone to VT since then and managed a Cow on the third day but my wife has also been drawn in VT and she got blanked

I would love to do Newfoundland for moose, but I think I missed the boat on that. 10 years ago it was reasonable. Today, not so much.

I agree about Maine though, it is near impossible. Thanks for the info!

I was drawn in VT in 2003 and 2009 NH was 2004. VT for my wife was 2004 My wife's brother drew NH in 2005

Yeah they don't give out near the licenses they used to. But Maine attracts national attention and they let you buy as many preference points as you want

technically they are all deer. I didn't see a Bear Elk forum, but it doesn't make any difference to me. If the powers that be want to move it that's fine by me.

Important point I forgot to mention; The reason the odds were traditionally better in NH and VT is because there aren't Guiding operations and Guides. That doesn't work for most people but it was good for me

That doesn't work for most people but it was good for me Although I would love to do a DIY hunt it wouldn't be practical for me to do so. I wouldn't have the time to pull it all together. Maybe when I retire. Thanks again!

First two times I went I just went up for one weekend prior to the season to put some eyes on the situation. Once I found where I wanted to hunt the first day I'd do the rest of my scouting in season. I never got skunked. My wife did but that's because while she was hunting in VT I was hunting in NH. So her brother went with her to help her
