A quick read shows wages kept pace with the inflation rate.

Wages have gone up. Anyone who wants a job can find one. Markets setting record high. IRA's doing very well. People who make wise choices are doing pretty well. And, of course, many Americans, high income and low, spending more than they bring in as has been the case for decades. Anyone surprised so many look for somebody else to blame for their condition.

Don't agree with all of it, but I especially like the part about monopolies.

When I worked I had clients that made $500,000 a year that lived like they made $1-million a year. Then I had clients that made $50,000 a year that lived like they made $30,000.
Guess who had more nest egg after 15-20 years?

Have not got a raise in three years and still have another two before I get another one......... Could you find a better paying job working for another business? I changed my full time job four times in 34 years. The first time was so I could live in a rural area. The other times were so I would be making more money while still living in rural areas.

Could you find a better paying job working for another business? Maybe? I am payed pretty fairly and my health benefits are also fair. I have 28 years here so I don't intend to look for greener pastures that often lure people in but do not turn out to be so green.

My material and parts are still outrageously expensive. Hard to sell jobs that way...

Plumbers in most places are turning away work. I talk to another plumber in my area he couldn't get over that I was willing to work Saturdays when he doesn't. I want consistent work and my area may suffer do to the wage level in the area but I do have a lot of customers that are not poor and they haven't called. Even if the people have money they stop spending when things are tight. Thats why they have the wealth they do. I have lost more estimates then I have gained over the last year. When i was still at the aluminum plant and only did it on the side I had enough phone calls to go full time and that was during the Trump years. If only I had enough fortitude to jump into my business then. I would have made money then because I did make money then. I put boilers in for around 6 grand depending on the type I put in other companies and guys I know want to get double figures for boiler installs. It's probably why the manager at my one supplier opened my van door and said keep buying boilers from me. He's the same one saying they have been slow and nobody is spending money right now.

Maybe the higher efficient furnaces and the milder, shorter heating seasons over the past couple years have all furnaces working less and lasting longer. Is the six grand figure for a gas fired replacement job?

Is the six grand figure for a gas fired replacement job? Oil boilers. I don't have many areas with natural gas hookups in the area and won't sell someone a propane furnace unless their little heart desires it because the savings imo just isn't there. It burns at a lower btu and the price is all over the map sometimes more then oil and it takes more to burn to match oil or coal. For a gas furnace you are looking at 6 grand for the boiler alone for some and that's my price I pay for it.

Last fall I had my gas forced air furnace and my whole house A\C replaced for $8-K. This was the unit just below the one that was eligible for the energy tax credit.
My Son ask why I didn't opt for the super duper energy efficient "save the planet" one. I said the cost recovery was 17 years. (I did the spreadsheet).

The wall hung combi boilers are the expensive one. 8k isn't bad for an ac install. Is it a natural gas furnace or propane? Not that it matters much you can do both with the same furnace just some things need to be changed around that isn't hard to do.
