This morning the local cable company brought fiber into our home. He pulled out the copper cable that went to our modem.
This evening I went down in the basement and removed the cable that had serviced the upstairs and a another room on the first floor.
While down there I saw old telephone wire, and pulled that all out. Haven't had a hardwire phone here since I moved in back in 2010. Reports I've read say hardwire phones are going to be phased out.
The end of the copper information age is here.

I only use copper when I make a copper rivet for the front brass on a flintlock.

Nothing nicer than copper gutters and downspouts. It's all about patina!

What if Verizon jacks your rates up and you want to use another provider? Then you are back to running copper back into your house. Of course, I guess you can go wireless and dish.

I have T-Mobile, much cheaper than Verizon. Also, if I got rid of my cell phone, I could use it as a home phone and make calls via the home wireless router, right?

Sorry, no, I have T-Mobile cell phones, but they do have wireless Internet for $50 per month via a box you get from them. My local cable provider is a small provider, that is who ran the fiber into the house.

I hope not. Then the crackheads will have to resort to stealing my car.

He switches back and forth every time he gets pissed about something. He had Comcast then switched to Verizon Fios. They came and installed everything and pulled the comcast wires. When he got mad a Verizon, he switched to Comcast and they had to run wire back into the house, lol.

It's their slowest speed, but we stream on the TV with no issues. Eighteen months ago I put an antenna up to get local channels and ditched cable TV. When my cable contract is up this September, I will again contact my cable company and threaten to go with Comcast Internet, and they will probably give me a good rate, to keep me.

We recently moved out of Allegheny county where Verizon isn't an option so I am stuck with Xfinity.
