Be getting down into the teens & 20's next 5 days in Sullivan County!! I can see single digits possible on some of the higher elevations. Thinking that a May 4th opener will be timed just about right this year as on average it is!

Maybe up in those parts. Turks are currently breeding down here and gobbling their heads off. In Ontario the seaosn starts on April 25th and their population has been growing.
Pa should have a split season. Mary Jo finnaly admitted a few years ago that climate can drive turkey nesting and will overide photoperiodism. There is no denying the differences between a few corners of the state ccompared to the more mountianous areas.

Yeah....a split season is certainly something that should be considered. Now correct me if I'm wrong Ridge...you don't seem to have any problems filling your tag(s) with the current seasons roll out do you??

Now correct me if I'm wrong Ridge...you don't seem to have any problems filling your tag(s) with the current seasons roll out do you?? Been pretty fortunate, which I attribute to lots of scouting, access to some very good properties, time actually hunting and some luck sprinkled in there.

Well Ridge I hope the Good Lord blesses you to experience the day(s) assuming(if applicable) when your Daughter asks you as a Granpap to keep your lil grandchild on a hunting day. I know at one time I thought like you.....but you will see!!

I know at one time I thought like you.....but you will see!! Not much gets in the way of my hunting. Especially the the prime days of certain seasons. Hopefully, if that day comes, the wife wil be around to watch the little pumpkin or my daughter will be looking for other options if it isn't an emergency. Hell, when she was home for spring break she said she wanted to get a dog once she graduated college. I told her don't expect me to watch it when you travel. Thats what kennels are for, lol......... Of course, my wife disagreed with that but we always kenneled our dog when we were away.

My grandson plays AAA hockey and travels a lot in the fall and winter. My one granddaughter plays basketball on Saturdays in the winter. Needless to say I don't hunt that much these days. But love every minute of it.

Yeah...both my Daughter's did dance & one soccer. I'm proud to say I NEVER missed a recital or game due to hunting. I did miss one soccer tournament though as I was subpoenaed out of town for a week testifying in a criminal tax case. Had no choice. Funny, now my Daughters both ask me early fall what's my planned hunting schedule. They always try to avoid asking me to keep grandkids those days if at all possible. I think they appreciate all the many times Dad showed up for them while they were home. Miraculously, I still managed to fill quite a few tags over the years.

Last year was the first year in about 20 years that I didn't have to skip lot's of hunting time in exchange for youth activities.Sadly,my drive to be out there isn't the same as it once was.

Thanks
