We drove to DC this afternoon and evening. Hoping to catch the cherry blossoms on Tuesday.
At night, the Washington Monument is just AMAZING!
Drove past that and also had a quick glimpse of the Capitol. Breathtaking.
The traffic is a white knuckle experience, not in my element. 😂

Yes. Me and the Mrs have visited DC many times. The first time she was pregnant with our Son (who is now 43).
IMHO the best way to visit all the places in DC is to buy one of those bus day pass's. I think a bus will stop every 15 minutes at each monument\site you want to visit, and if you don't want to stop at a given site just stay on the bus for the next.
My sister lives in Westminster MD and what we have done is stay with her, then take the train into DC. Avoid the traffic!!
When my Dad worked at Maryland General Hospital he drove the beltway every day. One day when he was coming home he was on an on ramp which squeezed into one lane. There was a semi-truck on his left side and the truck decided to move into his lane while the trucks right front wheel was lined up with his driver door.
Well, big truck.....mid size car....no contest. He spun across 4 lanes of beltway rush hour traffic ending up "parked" on the left hand side of the beltway in that neutral zone. He missed several cars during his little "spin". Exchanged info with the truck driver and drove home.....having to enter and exit the passenger door as the driver door was crunched shut.

Beautiful time of year to visit DC!
While working I spent tons of time there. Took train into Union Station & used the Metro exclusively. My car never saw DC.

The traffic is a white knuckle experience, not in my element. 😂 DC is driving wonderland. Not!! How much worse than driving around Pittsburgh? Other than going to the airport or the north shore, which is pretty easy, taking the wrong turn can make it seem impossible to correct your mistake. Thankfully I only drive in town a couple times a year.

You got that right, it was awful. Cherry blossoms were cool. Jefferson Memorial and the FDR Memorial were amazing. We also went to the Holocaust museum, which, when you read about the history leading up to it from the very early 30s, you see some of the same trends here in the US
