What do you think the best time of year is for crabbing on the Chesapeake? From Shore or dock? I do most from boat with Topless T120 traps plus set commercial type/10lb rebar weighted pots out. Also,, do some from piers with T120's along with handlines. Usually from June through October is good Although one year while I was getting a new heat pump in my place caught some from a pier early December. Check in with Matt at Seahawk Sports Center(below) near Pocomoke City for local Eastern Shore info plus he sells bunker and stocks all kinds of supplies. There's some public landings & parks etc. in/around Pocomoke City not too far from Crisfield open to public. I do all my crabbing on the oceanside in/around Wallops Island, VA near my place. Matt would know what's happening on the Chessy Bay side. Seahawk Sports Center

Chicken necks are great for handlining as is cut bunker. Matt carries both but will do better pricewise at grocery store on chicken necks or wings also work well as they're more meatier.

From boat with traps. Yeah, I meant what is the best time of year when crabbing from shore or dock. I noticed earlier I wasn't exactly clear the way I presented it.

I use to love to eat crabs. But now I'm just old and lazy and if it's not King Crab, Snow Crab, or Lobster, I have no interest.

I'm only a young 72 so haven't quite hit the too "old & lazy" point of not favoring/nor having time to devour the more tasty blue crabs vs those bland kings, snow, or lobster that need that salted butter! My crabbing buddy(below) just hit 80 & he's still going strong as a blue crab eater!!!

Yep….hard to beat live crabs from basket to steamer! My 80 year old crabbing buddy still works full time operating his large tour bus renovation and parts distribution business. He’s always ready to go crabbing on the spur of the moment…..always tells me “just say when & I’ll be there.” Been doing trips together for many years. A great friend.
