PGC FIELD REPORT
Cameron County Game Warden Griffin Gdovin reports a bull elk was killed in Zone 4 after guides from a local outfitter led an unaware hunter onto private property without permission to hunt there.
Anyone hear any further reports??

And the real story. Tis a shame that this "news" popped up after the case was dismissed.
-2 of my ECO guides were cited in early Nov for an alleged trespass while hunting violation -the hunter was not charged -the hunter did not loose his elk -they pled not guilty and the hearing date was set for 12/6 -on 12/6 the magistrate dismissed the case (never made it to the guilty/not guilty) -on 1/19 the PON runs the note of this alleged incident in the Cuffs & Collars section as factual information in their current issue. Mind you this is over a month after it had been dismissed…and thats how we have ended up here. Lol

I really like the PON. There is no other source of PA "outdoor" news that carries as much information as they do. And they cover a wide gambit of topics.
"Cuffs n Collars" section is what is submitted to them by the PGC. Obviously the PON entrusts the PGC with their information, as the PON can't fact check every swingin' WCO report that the PGC sends them. The culpability for misinformation in the C&C section, lies with the PGC.

I'll also say, when you're the regulating agency that has to enforce the rules of nearly 1 Million hunters, and all of the general publics interaction with wildlife, mistakes will be made. NO person, company, or agency are perfect. More than likely a civil suit will arise. Pay the price, offer the proper apologies, and move on. No biggie. Happens all the time.

No surprise as I per my experience on my 2020 PA Elk Hunt with ECO....the guides were very cautious/diligent on compliance to hunting legal hunting properties via GPS mapping devices etc.

There's a lot of reasons the magistrate could have dropped the charges. It doesn't mean they didn't trespass. It doesn't mean they did either.I just read the outfitters response and he certainly wasn't elaborating.I know they got pinched for road hunting one a few years ago.
