We spent a couple of days at camp last weekend. Two things were on the agenda: cutting down two huge oak trees and getting them to camp in preparation for a splitting party, and cleaning up sixteen years worth of accumulated trash. Herewith, the results. The first thing is a pile of logs awaiting the splitter and some additional chainsaw work. The second would be a dump trailer loaded with the accumulated junk.

I hope either is true. A. Yinz have young folk that are "splitters" OR B. Yinz have a splitter that can also split vertical. Those aren't sissy rounds.

We do have a splitter that will split vertical, fleroo. I will be getting to that in a short while.

We have accumulated stuff here at camp, at times. Sometimes you just gotta clean out.

I'm getting ready to tear my camp down and replace it. It is amazing how much crap one accumulates over the years, more than have is rarely, of ever used. Replace something in our home, the old one goes to camp. We say we won't let that happen with the new one.

I can only think of two item I ever took to camp, figuring on leaving there , that I brought back home, a lawn mower and a chain saw. It's no problem to throw either in the bed of the pickup when going to camp, and I know both will run when I get there. I do have some items there that haven't been used in years, but I have no use for them at home either, so they stay. I have different guests that ask if they can leave an item , mostly pillows, sleeping bags, clothing, etc, I always tell them sure, but I don't guarantee it will still be here when you return, I never know when or if the camp will be broken into.

Dave and I returned to camp Wednesday. We finished most of the cutting of the longer logs I had dragged in with the tractor, split a bunch of limbwood to restock the porch for next year, and then quartered the big logs for me to split later when I get around to it. The porch is nearly restocked with firewood. The pile of chunks below awaits splitting.

Get Dave back up there to help finish. I'm not 80+, but I "make" a bunch of wood. And I know how hard it is. My back lets me know all the time.

Dave helped me get the hardest stuff done, fleroo. I can handle the rest of it. I will just take my time and when I get tired, a foamer awaits.

That sounds like a great way to get back into the camping spirit! It's funny how chores at camp don't seem to be the work doing the same things around home is.
