I would like to hear what they biologists have to say if both junior and seniors did not have to follow ARs. Could their goals be compromised.

Fine by me. I will wait for a buck I like, just as I did before restrictions.
I don't think anyone else should have to pass on a buck just because I wouldn't shoot it. As said above I can take ARs or leave them.

Yeah......I personally could care less either way. Most so called "Seniors" I know & hunt with seem to kill on average as many or more bucks than Non-Seniors!! lol Now their health/physical fitness levels are good plus they are very experienced hunters. Now if there would be a way to properly regulate the issuance disability permits...I see that something to consider but if it would prototype what we had in the old pre-full inclusion crossbow years......NO Way!!

I really wonder if they did away with AR's right now for everyone if it would make any difference. I think that hunter attitudes towards harvest have changed over the last 20 years. Seems like far more people pass even legal deer waiting on something a little better. |

I agree CS plus coupled with the liberal antlerless licenses...killing a deer not a need the meat kinda thing anymore. |

Around the state I think it would have a negative affect on the biologists goals. Around here local I doubt it would have much of an effect. Most landowners would control it themselves. Jmo.

Difference would be the "brown & down" would get tagged vs an "OH Sh!t"!! imo. I know not many here agree but sorry that's my feelings based on my observations on heavily hunted public land. Those who hunt leases, private or places where virtually there's no hunters.....I agree on the positive AR impact. Outside of that...I respectfully disagree. |

Some would, but I would guess the majority of hunters would not. Most hunters that I know pass deer every year that meet the AR requirements. |

I think Brown and Down would definitely come back. I pass on Legal bucks all the time, but that's only because I've shot a bunch of them little ones When I first started deer hunting. I think Buck kill would rise dramatically.

Lol There will always be small scrub bucks around because there is a new crop of fawns every year so the following year several of them are small bucks. Without several hunters passing on those young buck we will end up with less mature buck down the road |

I haven't killed a buck in PA in three years. Could have killed spikes or four points if they were legal, and would have. I am not a trophy hunter, regardless of the state of my "museum." Still, I am against us old folks getting that sort of "break." I don't want it. .I have no trouble with junior hunters being allowed to kill those little bucks. None at all. At age 81, I have had my chances to harvest bucks, and have done so on occasion. The funny thing is that I have killed more bucks in the two plus decades since AR went into effect than I did during the 48 years I hunted before that. And nicer ones, too. Even the does I kill are bigger. Don't mess with success. Leave things as they are now.
Just one more thing. Manhood is not measured by whether or not you killed a buck.

Even though I generally pass up smaller legal bucks, I have been itching to hunt West Virginia for rifle deer to get back to my roots of whacking any buck with horns. Something about hitting the woods with the intention of shooting anything legal adds some excitement to the hunt for me.
As an example, I pass up does in rifle season but when flintlock comes, I am a kid in the candy store chasing the same does around hoping to get a shot.

Fun place to hunt Ridge(semi's OK too  )!! Hunted WVA for 5 years not too far from Martinsburg in Sleepy Creek WMU. Three of us camped in a pop-up in the Sleepy Creek WMU near lake. We crossed lake in a small Jon boat to reach some good hunting areas. WVA has Sunday hunting plus NO AR(one 3" spike=Legal Buck) plus has a 2 Buck Limit if xtra stamp purchased. We always bought xtra Buck Stamps. Three of us normally killed a buck & most of us killed 2 in a weeks hunt. We never killed or even saw any spikes. Sorta funny......most bucks were quality racks exceeding a PA typical AR class buck you see hanging at PA camps today even after 20 years of AR. I gave-up WVA hunting as it always came in during PA's Bear Season opening. A tough choice though. |
