My 3 year old iPhone 8's battery was losing battery charging/duration so went to the Apple Store at Park City Lancaster intending to get a $49 new battery. Well, long story short came away with a new iPhone SE(3rd Generation). Rep said I got about a year left until Apple stops supporting the iPhone 8. The SE was released 2022 so at minimum Apple support good till 2026/27. Rep was totally neutral on my decision with zero sales pressure...which sold me. I was really impressed with his iPhone knowlege. Got a trade-in on old fully paid old phone & with interest free financing....mthly bill only went up $10 for 3 years. Think I can handle that! lol
The iPhone SE has 5G capability plus the new Apple A15 Bionic processor comparable to the larger platformed iPhone 13/14. What I really like is the SE(3rd Gen) still has the ole home button plus same screen/phone size as my iPhone 8. I hate those unwielding large screened phones like my kids have!! Hell...almost like carrying around a small laptop!! lol
Well...hoping the 5G capability plus new improved processor may get some better signal strength in Sullivan County plus at my Chincoteague place. The SE does have a much better camera vs the iPhone 8 which will be nice for outdoor pics!!
Any other iPhone fans here. Curious what are you toting??

I'm cheap, I have a new Motorola 5 G phone, on T-Mobile network.
Kathy has the newest Apple and the pics are amazing. I guess I don't need amazing pics. Lol
I'm impressed with the 5G Ultra Capacity from T-Mobile. I work in a large Ace hardware in Lititz. When I was on 4G, I had service inside, but hit or miss at times. Now, with this 5G, I get great service inside. My coworker on Verizon has to use the store network for service.
My Motorola does what I need. Bought it on Amazon last November when it went on a great sale. So far, so good

At camp we have a cell tower across the road. Att and T-Mobile are on that tower. I waited and waited for Verizon, when I had Verizon service, but gave up.
My service along the Rt 6 corridor in Tioga and Potter is pretty good. ATT has put up additional towers, and T-Mobile is also working on those towers, it filled in some gaps.
Where I hunt, there is a Verizon tower, one of 20 in Potter County. T-Mobile also had a tower close by, and also hung equipment on the Verizon tower, so, I have great service where I hunt.

Wish the same were in the Hillsgrove & Forksville areas. We have one AT&T Tower that went up 3 years ago which rumor was Verizon was to hang service on it within the first year but still waiting after 3 years.
Funny...my Mrs just has a flip phone which there's only a few models left offered/supported by Verizon. She said when they no longer support a flip she will get an elcheapo AARP flip Jitterbug!! She want's NO PART of a smart phone...just wants a device to make/receive calls...that's it. She does her FB etc on our laptop.

We have been pretty happy with TMO. In fact, I get way better coverage here in Lititz than I did with Verizon. TMO has two towers covering this area, Verizon had one.
Plus, when I started with TMO, we had the over 55 deal, $70 for 2 lines.
TMO has a great plan for veterans, which we now have. Very inexpensive

I have a 6 year old LG. No idea what model it is. It does what I need it to do which is to make phone calls and text. I have never shopped from it, rarely surf the net on it and don't play games. I get 5 days out of a battery charge with my normal usage.

I'm hoping the new 5G will help reception in Sullivan County areas I hunt. When I'm in VA for a couple weeks at a time my cell phone serves as a computer where I can answer email, text, do online banking, investment transactions, pay bills, ck tides app, marine weather etc. I have never played any games, music, do the streaming thingie etc with phone which really surprised the Apple Rep!! Was like he was thinking....what do you even need a phone for!! lol

Looking at the TMO coverage map, on the ridge tops around hillsgrove I'd get service. I was at High Knob a couple years ago and barely had service. Those coverage maps aren't always accurate

I got some with Verizon on certain higher ridges but not too reliable plus varies depending on cloud cover. Not sure what Moosemike uses? He seems to be able to post here sometimes while up at his camp.

He seems to be able to post here sometimes while up at his camp. Wife and I both have SE's which are the 2nd generation, which we got 2 or3 years ago when the first SE's were no longer being updated. As for you guys that have service problems, a booster will usually take care of a lot of it. You do need internet because it hooks up to your wifi router. When the wife and I got our last phones from Verizon I complained about the poor connection on phone calls at home. He gave me Verizon's customer service / Tech #,( 1-800-922-0204 ) don't know if it's still good. Called them with my problem and she asked me for my physical address, II gave it to her she said," oh yeah". She sent me a free booster, no monthly charge or anything. The only stipulation on it was if I ever changed carriers ,I had to send it back to version, helped a lot, no more dropped calls. A friend who has T-mobile told me they gave him a booster also, when he went with them. Might be worth checking out.

If you have internet, then you should be able to enable wifi calling, and a booster shouldn't be needed.
